JEAN-MARC FAUCHER
After completing his musical studies in Paris, Jean-Marc Faucher Berdasé joined what is now the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto – Casa da Música, where he devoted himself to a wide range of repertoires, including contemporary music, taking part in residencies with numerous composers such as Kaija Saariaho, Magnus Lindberg, Pascal Dusapin, Helmut Lachenmann, Luca Francesconi, Wolfgang Rihm, and others.
At the same time, he taught double bass at the Conservatório de Música do Porto for several years, as well as teaching and serving as Pedagogical Director of the International Double Bass Course in Capbreton (Landes, France).
Since September 2016, he has lived between France (Nantes, Paris, and elsewhere) and Portugal, focusing primarily on repertoire performed on historical instruments.
Inspired by the Compagnons du Tour de France, he has travelled throughout Europe in search of opportunities to further his expertise in historical double bass and violone, studying with musicians such as Michele Zeoli, Sigiswald Kuijken, Andrew Ackerman, Xavier Puertas, Jonathan Dunford, Dane Roberts, and Maggie Urquhart.
In the modern repertoire, he collaborates with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, and Orchestre National Bordeaux-Aquitaine, among others, while simultaneously developing his work on historical instruments, from the Renaissance onwards.
His work in this field has led him to collaborate on projects with ensembles and artists including O Concerto Ibérico (João Paulo Janeiro), Le Cercle de l’Harmonie (Jérémie Rhorer), Le Festival Hugo Reyne, Il Caravaggio (Camille Delaforge), Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkowski), Les Siècles (François-Xavier Roth), Les Épopées (Stéphane Fuget), Orchestra Millenium (Leonardo García Alarcón), Ensemble Consonance (François Bazola), Enrico Onofri, and the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal de Versailles, as well as in various chamber music formations.
