Emily Robinson is a British cellist who has been living in France since 2011. She began her musical training at the Royal Academy of Music in London, under the guidance of Mats Lidström and Jennifer Ward-Clarke. She continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in Jaap ter Linden’s class, where she specialised in historically informed performance on period instruments. She was a founding member of the ensemble Opera Quarta, which received two awards in international early music competitions. The ensemble performed in numerous venues across Europe and, in 2007, their recording of Jean-Marie Leclair’s trio sonatas was awarded the Diapason d’Or.

After completing her studies, Emily developed an intense career as a performer, collaborating with many leading ensembles, including The Academy of Ancient Music, Gabrieli Consort, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Les Muffatti, Vox Luminis, Le Cercle de l’Harmonie, Le Concert d’Astrée and Pygmalion. For almost two decades she has been a continuo cellist with the Reykjavik International Baroque Orchestra in Iceland.

In the field of chamber music, she is a member of Collectif Manyways and La Petite Symphonie, under the direction of Daniel Isoir. She has also had the honour of performing alongside cellist and artistic director Diana Vinagre as part of Ensemble Bonne Corde. Alongside her artistic activity, she regularly participates in educational and cultural outreach projects in collaboration with the various ensembles she works with.
